12/27/2007 Entry: "SimpleTech
SP-U25/250 SimpleDrive 250 GB 2.5-Inch USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive"
I
purchased the SimpleTech SP-U25 USB Portable Hard Drive for Christmas.
It can store up to 250 GB of files. I was very suspicious at the
price of only $165
(that's the price before Christmas 2007).
Normally something that can store 250 GB costs at least $200 or
even more (price as of December 2007). So I thought there was something
wrong with this drive. Maybe it required 2 USB ports OR maybe it
required an external power source.
But after receiving it in the mail, I was very impressed.
It only requires ONE USB port. It has a secondary USB port just
in case the first one needs more power. This might happen on some
MAC computers (that's what the directions said). Otherwise, on most
PC computers, just plug in the main USB port and it's good to go.
It does NOT require an external power supply. Although
if you did get a SimpleTech Portable Hard Drive that requires an
external power supply, it would be even cheaper! For example, you
can easily get the 500 GB SimpleTech Portable Hard Drive that requires
an external power supply for $130
(Dec. 2007 price)!! (See picture below)

SimpleTech
500GB 3.5-Inch USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive
I was quite impressed at this new SimpleTech
company. I always had Western Digital portable hard drives.
But I think I'll be buying SimpleTech hard drive from now on.
