06/18/2003 Entry: "Dangerous Intersections"

Thought of the Day: I was surfing around the web and found this very useful link regarding the 10 most dangerous intersections in the United States. (released June 27, 2001)

1. Pembroke Pines, Fla. Flamingo Road and Pines Boulevard
2. Philadelphia, Penn. Red Lion Road and Roosevelt Boulevard
3. Philadelphia, Penn. Grant Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard
4. Phoenix, Ariz. 7th Street and Bell Road
5. Tulsa, Okla. 51st Street and Memorial Drive
6. Tulsa, Okla. 71st Street and Memorial Drive
7. Phoenix, Ariz. 19th Avenue and Northern Avenue
8. Plano, Tex. State Highway 121 and Preston Road
9. Metairie, La. Clearview Parkway and Veterans Memorial Boulevard
10. Sacramento, Calif. Fair Oaks Boulevard and Howe Avenue

The way I see this, they've got to do something about Tulsa, Oklahoma!!! I wonder how the streets are between 51st and 71st ?? Anyways, to see a list of the most dangerous intersections in your area, visit this link and go to the very bottom.

Hahah...I actually find the Tulsa ones kinda funny...but that's cause I live there & I've grown up around those intersections all my life. It's true, they are bad, but 71st & Memorial is by far worse than 51st. That's because the most popular mall in Tulsa (the 2nd most poplular in the state) is on that corner & where there's a mall there's also an Old Navy, Barnes & Noble, etc. Christmas season on that corner is a real holiday! I don't think 51st is all that bad & of course they don't mention 61st cause there's practically nothing there. Heh, it may be dangerous, but we really don't have that many accidents on that road. They're usually at smaller intersections because people don't think about them. Until everyone & they're dog stops going to Woodland Hills Mall & all the surrounding stores, there really isn't much that can be done at that intersection...the light is already unbearably long & if they widen the road anymore you could use it as a multilaned runway!
