07/10/2003 Entry: "Melinda
Mae by Shel Silverstein"
This is my favorite poem of all times. This was the
very first English poem I have ever memorized. I still remember
every single word of it today. This poem represents my philosophy
of NEVER giving up no matter how monstrous the task is - just take
little steps in life and the task will get done.
"Melinda
Mae"
Have you heard of tiny Melinda Mae,
Who ate a monstrous whale?
She thought she could,
She said she would,
So she started in right at the tail.
And everyone said,"You're much too small,"
But that didn't bother Melinda at all,
She took little bites and she chewed very slow,
Just like a little girl should...
...and in eighty-nine years, she ate that whale
Because she said she would!!!
