Thank you so much to everyone that's left supportive comments regarding my situtation with the Neopets Legal Department. Legal has given me until June 26, 2002 to remove the material they felt infringed upon their copyright rules. Anyways, I have responded back to that email and I made a copy of it below in the "read more" section. Also to those that think I have made any money off of my website should know that I have made $0.00. But I have forked out over hundreds of dollars to create this site. The one thing that irks me is why would having a link to Amazon and 99dogs.com be a violation of federal copyright and trademark infringement??? Well anyways I guess it comes down to who can get away with it. Some people can get away with charging neopians NP to make banners, while I think that's wrong. But then I can't even put a link to amazon.com on my site. Of course some people think it's wrong to have a link to amazon, but hey, they only think that cause I got a letter from legal. If I never got that letter from legal, then my link to amazon.com would be ok. Also I still think I should be able to put whatever content on my site. If I want to talk about Sailor Moon and put up Sailor Moon comic books on my site, I should be able to.

Hmm ... ok, enough venting over it. I had time to think over this and I'm ready to close most of my neopets accounts and stripe my entire site of Neopets-related info. I'm also ready to close down "designcove.com" and merge it with "gemele.com" so that I only pay one monthly hosting fee. So the ball is in the Neopets court, if they want me to keep on generating users to their site, then leave me alone and go after the other sites that's violating their rules. I have my hands full with work, classes, and doing all the homework needed to get my teaching portfolio ready. Within the upcoming weeks, I'll have class from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM and inbetween I'll have to squeeze in some hours for work. I reallly feel that my Internet days are at an end. I just don't have the time to be online anymore. *sigh* So I wanted to thank everyone for being my friend on the Internet, but with the way the teaching profession is changing, it is becoming so time consuming that I won't have free time to be online anymore. *hugz*

Dear Legal Department,

Thank you for extending my deadline and reiterating your concern
regarding the copyright. To the best of my knowledge, I don't think I
have violated any federal copyright or trademark rules because I was
not selling any Neopets-related artwork or merchandize. The only thing
I had up in my shop was the offer by 99dogs.com (a neopets approved
site) to sell Neopets tshirts in which webmasters can receive a
comission. That was an offer provided by Neopets and 99dogs.com. I
was not aware that was against your Terms and Conditions because it was
sponsored by Neopets. However, if being an associate of 99dogs.com is
a violation, then 99dogs.com (in conjunction with Neopets) should not
have given me and any other webmasters the offer of being an associate
in the first place. I find the associates program in 99dogs.com
extremely misleading if that is the case.

I have already made several modifications to my site. I will make a
few more now that you have given me more time. If after the review
next week, you still find violations on my website to your Terms and
Conditions, simply let me know what you find and I'll continue removing
the material that you feel have infringed upon your copyright laws.
Also please feel free to provide suggestions or guidance to me and
other fan sites so that we will not violate your terms and conditions
in the future. Thank you.
