compass.jpg (16726 bytes)Kua formula directional feng shui is based on the Pa Kua and its 8 trigrams arranged in a Lo Shu square.  Do not confuse Kua feng shui with that of the 9-star Ki formula.

To calculate Kua, need to know if birthdate comes before or after the Chinese New Year for that year.  Example, William is January 1977, but his birthday for 1977 came BEFORE the lunar new year, therefore in the Kua calculations, he's really a 1976.

Add the last two digits together => 7 + 6  = 13
Then 1 + 3 = 4

Gemelle is March 1977, which is AFTER the Chinese New Year.  Therefore for the Kua calculations it is 1977.

Add the last two digits together => 7 + 7 = 14
Then 1 + 4 = 5

Kua numbers for males is to subtract it from 10.

William =>  10 - 4 = 6
Therefore William's Kua number is 6.

Kua numbers for females is to add 5.

Gemelle => 5 + 5 = 10, 1 + 0 = 1
Therefore Gemelle's Kua number is 1
