Instant Messaging Acronyms

Here is a list of popular IM acronyms.

IM = Instant Messaging

AIM = AOL instant messaging - very popular in the USA
YIM = Yahoo instant messaging - great for international uses
MSN = Microsoft instant messaging - comes standard on all computers with Windows platform
IMVU = 3D instant messaging where you create your own character and chat
ICQ = one the of the first IM softwares. Not as popular anymore
Jabber = cross platform one-on-one chat OR group chat
mIRC = Internet Relay Chat - great for multiple users all in one chatroom
Trillian = special software that MERGES all the IMs into one software
