Here is a selection of random thoughts and hypothesis
of the little nuisances and coincidences inside the anime Sailor
Moon.
We (Gemelle and Jamie Bunyi) could be stretching
our imagination in some thoughts OR we just proved how much research
Naoko Takeuchi really conducted before she created Sailor Moon!
Either way, we had a lot of fun chatting and researching
into these tiny, easily-missed, details of Sailor Moon! ^_^

Thought #1: Moon Kingdom built next to the
Sea of Serenity?
The lake pictured in the back of this balcony scene
in Episode 44 of 200 "The Past Returns" could have been
the Sea of Serenity.
"It's probably the Sea of Serenity
(which is actually a real area on the Moon, but doesn't have water).
It makes sense if the sea was named after the Royal Lunarian lineage,
seeing as the Moon Palace and Kingdom was built along its shores.
Who knows, maybe the Sea really had water in it a thousand years
ago ^_^" ~ from Jamie Bunyi (October 2005)
Some common lunar terms in Latin:
mare (pl. maria) = sea
oceanus = ocean
lacus = lake
sinus = bay
mons (pl. montes) = mountain
The Sea of Serenity (Mare Serenitatis in Latin)
is located on the northeast area of the Moon, on the side facing
Earth (the near side). You can get more information and locations
from this lunar map: http://www.oarval.org/MoonMapen.htm
Here's a bigger lunar map, from this site:

Thought #2: Luna Moth Inspiration?
vs
The wings of Princess and Neo-Queen Serenity are
possibility inspired by the wings of the Luna Moth.
"I just realized how Princess
and Neo-Queen Serenity's bow resembled the wings of the Luna moth."
~ Jamie Bunyi (October 2005)
Thought #3: Moon Flower inspires Fashion?
vs.
The Moon Princess dress may have been inspired by
the white Moon Flower.
Thought #4: Moon Flower inspires eye color?
vs
The eye color of Sailor Moon might even have been
inspired by the blue Moon Flower?
The white moonflower looks like
a full moon, hence it's name. To me, it also kind of looks like
the material of Princess Serenity's royal dress. The blue moonflower
looks the color of her eyes. ~ Jamie Bunyi (October 2005)
