Sailor Moon Spoilers below

SerenityIn the Japanese version, Queen Serenity (revealed in episode 35 of 200) is known as the incarnation of the Goddess Serene (Goddess of the Moon). "I am the incarnation of the Moon Goddess, Serene. I am the Queen of Silver Millennium, Queen Serenity." ~ ADV translation of episode #44.

Transcription of episode 44 of 200 for the American Version.

Queen Serenity and her royal court (the moon people) were to protect the Silver Crystal and watch over the evolution of the people on Earth. The people who lived on the moon were blessed with the ability to live a long life. "We are long-living life forms born on the moon. Our mission is to protect the sacred will passed down to us on the moon, the legendary Silver Crystal, and to watch over and aid the progression and Earth's evolution." ~ ADV translation of episode #44. (This episode is called "The Past Returns" in the American version)

Queen Serenity, the Moon Princess, and their royal court, lived in a place called the Silver Millennium (a paradise created at the pinnacle of the gods glory).

In the American Version, the Moon Kingdom existed during the time of the Silver Millennium. This was a time when all the planets and universe were at peace. Every night there are parties and dancing. It was a glorious time.

The Moon Kingdom is known as the Silver Millennium in the Japanese version. Below are four pictures of the Moon Kingdom/Silver Millennium.

Queen Serenity had one child, the Moon Princess (known as Princess Serenity in the Japanese version, known as Princess Serena in the American version).

The Moon Princess fell in love with a prince from Earth (known as Prince Endymion in the Japanese version, known as Prince Darien in the American version).

The Moon Princess was to follow in the footsteps of her mother and rule over the Moon Kingdom/Silver Millennium. However, Queen Beryl brainwashed the people on Earth and took advantage of the humans yearnings for the longevity of the moon people. Thus with the 4 warriors of Queen Beryl and the brainwashed people of Earth, they combined forces and attacked the Moon Kingdom/Silver Millennium.

Right before that fateful attack, Prince Endymion/Darien came to warn the Moon Princess of activities on Earth. Even though Prince Endymion/Darien was an Earth person, he still vowed to protect his one true love - the Moon Princess. Then after their last dance together, they went outside for their final kiss.

In the American version, Prince Darien warned Princess Serena of the impending battle to come during their last dance. However, Prince Darien stated that Queen Serenity knew that Prince Darien is not a spy. In fact, Queen Serenity ASKED Prince Darien to help protect the Moon Kingdom! That is why he is able to dance with her.

Not too long afterwards, Queen Beryl's forces attacked the Moon.

Serenity & CrystalBy the time Queen Serenity came to defend her daughter, she was too late. The Moon Princess and Prince Darien/Endymion were already killed by the evil Queen Beryl.

Queen Serenity did not want her daughter's life to end this way. Thus she uses the last of her energy and powers to seal away Queen Beryl inside the Silver Crystal.

Before her death, she made one wish on the Silver Crystal, that her daughter and everyone else can find peace and happiness at a future time on Earth. Queen Serenity then let the Silver Crystal float away and transformed the Crescent Moon Wand into two time-capsules and placed Luna and Artemis in them. Then lying on broken columns of the once glorious palace (which looks like a Christian cross) Queen Serenity passes away.

However, considering that Queen Serenity is the incarnation of the Moon Goddess, Serene, she doesn't just disappear forever. Queen Serenity does return to aid Sailor Moon. She remains inside Sailor Moon's soul and appears in the form below when needed most.

In the American version, Queen Serenity never "died". She simply ran out of energy when she sent everyone to a future time on Earth. Queen Serenity is sad after her defeat of the Negaverse because Princess Serena and her royal court will have no memories of their happy time on the Moon. Queen Serenity will also never be able to see her daughter again because she is being sent into the future to be reborn on Earth. She asks Luna and Artemis to keep an eye on the girls just in case the Negaverse breaks free from the Silver Crystal. Then Queen Serenity faints with hopes that they will all meet again someday.

All American episodes end with a special service announcment (such as: the Moon Kingdom was trashed, so we must somehow keep our planet clean so it doesn't get trashed) ^_^
