Rurouni Kenshin means "wandering Kenshin".
Kenshin Himura is a wandering samurai during the Meiji Era (1878)
carrying a unique reversible blade sword. During his wanderings,
he meets a feisty and tough young woman named Kaoru Kamiya.
As Keshin stays at Kaoru's dojo, secrets of his past
is revealed. Why does he have a cross-shaped scar on his face? Why
does he have a reversible sword? What's Kenshin's connection with
the feared Battousai? And what kind of fighting style is the Hiten
Mitsurugi?
Animation production is by Studio Gallop and Rurouni
Kenshin is distributed by Sony
Pictures in America.

The American dub versions features voice stars such
as Richard
Hayworth as Kenshin (male lead), Lex
Lang as Sanosuke, Dorothy
Elias-Fahn as Kaoru (female lead), Steve
Blum as Shishio, and Wendee
Lee, to name a few.
Rurouni Kenshin is made for a teen audience. There's
much violence in this anime and thus it is not for little kids.
But it does have some light-hearted and comedic episodes. However
when Kenshin's past comes to haunt him, this anime can get quite
violent. (I own all 95 episodes of Rurouni Kenshin
and all 4 episodes of Samurai X.)
Do
NOT confuse Rurouni Kenshin with Samurai
X (which is a much darker and heart-felt version of Kenshin).
Samurai X covers more details of Kenshin's past,
but it is definitely darker and more intense. Samurai X is definitely
for an adult audience.
However if you are an adult (18+), Samurai X is definitely
worth watching because it really explains why Kenshin Himurai is
the way he is.
